Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow...

That's when the car is getting fixed.
On a different note, I've switched to Mozilla Firefox. I like it. It's got cool extensions. I have a bible search bar, a music control bar, my yahoo toolbar (without that I'd still have to use IE), and bookmark toolbar (one click away from Shroomazoom.com!). So I'm hooked. Too bad Thunderbird isn't a little better, maybe I'd use that too...

Haven't fixed the car yet

Thus I walked to work today. It's 7 km and it took me about 70 mins. I don't think that's too bad, especially because I have to climb the monster hill to get here. Maybe I'll have to try it on my bike sometime. ;) In some ways I'm glad our car is out for a while. As a result we stayed home yesterday and redecorated our house. With a Christmas tree coming, we needed to make some space. Of course we couldn't just move our son's stuff, even though it probably consumes the largest portion of surface area in the living room. Instead, we now have a desk in our closet and bookshelves in the hallway. The other benefit of not being able to use the car is that our landlords' friend parked right behind us so we couldn't get out, and I didn't have to wake them from their hangover at 6:45 am so they could move it...

It was a good car...

Well, I'm sure it still is, it just won't start. We think it's the alternator. A new friend of mine told me about this book that you can buy that tells you how to fix everything on your car. So, I'm going to try and fix our car. I've never done anything like that, and it's a little intimidating, but the worst thing that can happen is I'll be out the price of a book. Unless I screw something up...

3 Years

Yesterday was our three year anniversary. We thought about getting a babysitter, but in the end we didn't. In the morning I made waffles. In the afternoon we went to the new Starbucks by the Seabus where we had two coupons for a free drink. Mmmm.... peppermint hot chocolate. Then I made my greatest meal... Stuffed pork chops. I've done it once before, but I didn't remember how long it took. I was at it for like 2 hours.
The best part of my day was when my wife surprised me with a gift. We weren't going to buy gifts, but she did anyway, and it made me feel really good. I love her so much...

IKEA stands for...

So I heard that the founder of IKEA is now richer than Bill Gates (article). We went to IKEA last night. I remember the day when we couldn't escape that place without spending $100. But the novelty has worn off. Our home is pretty much decorated. Sure, there were some nivce clearance leather sofas, but ours are just fine thank-you very much. We managed to keep it around $20 this time. Not bad, not bad at all...

Baby and Me

So last night my wife went out with someone for the first time since our son was born, leaving him alone with daddy for a couple of hours. After the first 15 minutes I wasn't quite sure how she stays with him all day long. He doesn't do much other than drool, but once we got into the playing and stuff we had alot of fun. I bet he'll be much funner once we can play catch and colour and such. I'm looking forward to that...

Four hours and seven minutes ago...

So I spent the better part of today trying to get a wireless network card into Wild T's laptop. We had one that didn't work. The Staples guy couldn't get it to work. Bought a different one, same story. Four hours later I had to resolve to the fact that I was in over my head, cut the line and move on. So, I return defeated once again by all things computer. Maybe I'll stick to what I know, like pasta making...

Wild T and the baby boy

So, one of our old professors from college stayed with us last night. Here's here promoting his mission agency, Adventive. He had been speaking alot over the weekend at a Bible school in Alberta. His voice was a little hoarse and he had to clear his throat a few times. Only problem is that our baby boy got freaked out everytime he did it. I always thought he was a little scary too...

Dancin', dancin', Daaanncccinn'... Dancing Machine

Last night the Youth Group went to Laserdome. They had a new arcade game there. It was one of those dancing machines where you have to hit the foot areas at the right time to get points. I must say that I was awesome. There was a girl that is a dancer, and I challenged her and kicked her butt. But another girl put me back in my place as she was way better than me. In any event, it was super fun; even better than the laser tag. Maybe I'll ask for one of those for Christmas. he he...

Yes, thank-you

I am feeling a bit better today. It's nice to relax a bit, even if the reason you're doing it is because you're sick. We're doing a song by Rick Unruh this Sunday. A friend and I opened for him back at LU once. It was the first and only time anyone ever walked out on me while I was playing. I think they didn't realize it was a Christian concert. At least that's what I tell myself...

unnhh...

I don't feel too good today. I think I may have had some bad sushi or something yesterday. In any event, it's interesting how cold you can feel with all your clothes on, under all the covers with the heater on full blast.
I'm feeling a bit better, but now I have to lead worship practice and I really don't feel up to it, what with my splitting headache and all.
My wife was so great. She made me homemade chicken soup today. Mmmm...

Finally

Well, I've finally got things put together. I guess that means I have no excuses not to get some real work done. I've got 3 weeks to finish the Youth curriculum for the spring. Here's hoping that I've procrastinated long enough to feel like I have to get it done now...

Of Teasers and Trailers

So I watched the Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith trailer last night with my wife. It really lived up to its "teaser" name. It doesn't give you much, just enough to get you excited. My wife's comment was, "He turns into Darth Vader already? But he was such a cute little boy."
Makes me hope our cute little boy turns out a little better than Anakin does...

Working Harder... so you will too!

Whoever would have thought that getting a new computer would be so much work. So many programs to install, register, etc. and things to set up. Not that I'm complaining about anything, except Microsoft's need to make everything difficult, or at least change things so much that you need to buy the stupid XP for dummies book. I'll figure it out, just give me some time...

Way Past Curfew (and sanity)

So, I made it. It was actually pretty good. I ran the bball tourney and the talent show. My voice is a little hoarse (no mic at the gym) and I felt physically ill by the time I got home at 6am (kinda like you would feel around 4 am if you were a nightguard.
The big news is that they had my all-time favourite pinball game. Star Wars. I played a few games and sucked just like I used to...

All night long (all night, all night)

So, tonight there is an all-night youth event run by several of the youth pastors here. I think it's a good outreach event, except for the fact that now I have to stay up all-night. But hey, what other job would you get paid for something like this! It'll be fun.
On a different note, I just got a cool wireless, optical notebook mouse.
It even works on the couch! (which is where we mainly use the compy at home).
I think I'll mostly leave it at work though.
I'll let you know how the event went...

Back at it

So, here I am again. Blogging.
I got my new laptop yesterday. It's pretty sweet.
But there's a bittersweetness about getting something new.
I've been looking forward to getting a new compy for a while, and now that it's here, there's that feeling of, "OK, well, what next?"
It seems like we need to long for something.
Perhaps I long for the wrong things sometimes...
