A hunting we will go

So, the search continues. I've been at it for what, 2 days now, shouldn't I have come up with something yet?!
I noted another plus from this whole situation. Now we have internet access at home. We used to at our old place connect to some mysterious signals emanating from who knows where (feel free to comment on whether you think one should or shouldn't do that), but our new place isn't privy to such things. So, we bit the bullet and got light speed. Being a Star Wars fan, and someone who holds a science degree, I would have thought light speed would have been the fastest option. But no, it's the "too cheap to get the good stuff" option for people like me. I don't really need to download big programs and such at this point, so light speed goes rather well. Except you do come to appreciate more those who took the time to optimize their photos for the web instead of sticking gazillion byte versions up because they figure everyone else must have high-speed internet, too. Ach! Light speeders, revolt!

Moving on, uh... on...

Please sing the title of this post to the tune from The Jefferson's. Hmm, sometimes an audio blog would be nice for instances like that. Someone told me I'm an auditory learner, I think that's true. I think I'm an auditory communicator, too. I have little patience for trying to write down everything I have to say, and I usually just browse emails. Oh well, on to the point of this here post.
We're moving on. Things are final. I feel pretty good overall, considering what's gone on lately. I've spoken to so many people at the church were shocked/angered/saddened, etc. to hear that I'd been fired. The vast majority of people, from what I can discern, thought I was doing a really good job (or at the very least not worthy of getting the boot). So I know I did what God was calling me to while I was there. I feel good about the people I was able to minister to during my time there and the ways God was able to use me and to teach me more about Himself.
So, about moving on, I've been checking the net for some leads, and there are some interesting possibilities so far. If you hear of anything in your area, pass it along and I'll take a look see. My current preference is position at one of the churches in town here, but we'll see what God's got for us.
Oh, yes, one more thing. I've posted one of my new songs at http://music.download.com/reliabletoasters/ for your listening pleasure, and as a resume aid to my job hunting. It may not be available yet, they have to verify stuff that gets uploaded, but keep checking back. It's not really a finished version, no BGV's and such, but it'll have to do until we get our lives back in order. Although, that would assume we ever had them in order to begin with...
(I've since added the mp3 here, so you could try this link instead)

Terminated...

So, I got fired the other day. I always dreaded the idea, until it actually happened to me. The worst part is the unknown of "what will I do next?" The best part is that all of the difficulties and stresses of working in an unhealthy church environment just magically aren't my problem anymore. As it turns out, some people in the church didn't really like me, and haven't for a long time, and they happened to be the kind of people who can make things like this happen. So, I'm turning a new page, excited to see what God will do next with our lives, and yet I'm also saddened at the way the situation was handled and with how it affects my relationships with many people that I really care about. At this point, there is not much one can do but move on, and with the Lord's help, that's what we intend to do.

Some thoughts...

Sometimes to wind picks up and knocks you off your feet unexpectedly...
But then you might just find a loonie in the spot you fell.

Episode IV: A New Year

Hey there everyone. Hope you had a good Christmas, etc. I did. We had a good time at my in-laws place for a week in Saskatoon. It's always nice to have time to relax, with no respnosibilities and such. Our son had lots of fun with his relatives, although he did get a little too comfy with TV for my liking. We'll soon fix that, considering we don't watch it at home.

On a different note, I managed to lay down the basis for 12 different songs (10 of my own) during the week before Christmas. They are starting to take shape, but still need a lot of editing, and probably I need to re-record some of it as well. But things are moving along, which is good, because it would be nice to have it done before baby #2 comes along in 8 short weeks from now.
Yikes! that sounds too soon!
