I'm not much of a gardener, but I like things to look pretty. So we went out and bought some nice perennials for our front flower bed and some little flowers and then I also planted one pot. It'll be nice once things grow and fill out. We also planted a vegetable garden in our backyard. It's probably our biggest one yet, but it's still pretty small. Just a little bit of everything. So, hopefully things grow well in Saskatchewan and we can eat some of this later on.
The weather has been rainy and dark here the last while. It's kind of nice, it reminds me of BC. But we are really hoping that the nice weather kicks in and stays. I am starting to plan my sons birthday party. I'm not completely sure of what to do, but have a few ideas. So, hopefully I can bring it all together in my head.

Edmonton trip
Weddings are such a great excuse to get away. This weekend we went to Edmonton and stayed with some friends of my husbands. On Saturday we went to Tofield and went to my cousins wedding. This is just 45 minutes outside of Edmonton. It was nice to see my family again; cousins, aunts, uncles and especially my grandparents. The only bad part and is that I never really got a chance to talk to most of them that much, but that is how weddings go.
On Sunday it was off to West Edmonton Mall. That was good, but unfortunately I was only able to shop at one store. We didn't have a lot of time, but the change room line up was long and then the pay line up was all the way to the door. It's one of my favourite stores, Hollister Co. I love it, but it's always so busy because I think it's the only one in Western Canada. Thankfully my husband had taken the kids to see the seal show and walk around the pirate ship and stuff. West Ed has so many cool things to see. It's great for shopping with kids.
My husband went out for coffee with the guys on Sunday night, which was so nice for him and just nice to be around old friends.
On Monday, of course, we did some more shopping; Ikea, HomeSense... For me it was nice to go to my old stores since we have nothing out here. We have a bunch of Walmarts and that is it. For the kids, it wasn't so great, but they did pretty good.
Well, to make the weekend really memorable, the kids had horrible nights. The first night our kids wouldn't go to sleep until late and there is no talking sense into a 1 year old and then the 2 year joins in. Then in the night from 2:30am -5:30am our kids and their boy were up off and on. It was really bad. My husband finally went in and slept with them, since I still have a cold and blowing my nose around them would not have helped. The next night was bad as well and my husband had to sleep with them again. And finally the last night everybody slept. Yeah!! It was amazing to have a good nights sleep. We were all so exhausted. So, last night we got home at midnight and the kids jabbered most of the way home, so hopefully they will sleep in a bit, although obviously I'm not. Maybe I should get off here and have a rest while I have the chance.
But all this to say. We had a great weekend and it was so nice to get away. I think getting away was just the best part of it.

Mother's Day
We had a nice day together. The kids actually slept in a bit today so that was a miracle. It was only because we had them up late the night before. We then went to church and then went out for lunch. I didn't even really want to see a dirty kitchen or dishes that day. So, lunch was nice, although restaurants are never the same once you have kids. Then we came home and all had a nice, long nap. Again, out of the ordinary. Maybe they were trying to sleep more, just for me. For supper I thought it would be nice to go the Forestry Farm. It's kind of like a Stanley Park idea, just totally different. It's neat, they have fire pits, picnic tables, a pond, and little paths all over. So, we brought our little bbq (because we didn't know they had fire pits) and had a nice meal outside. It totally felt like we were camping. It was very refreshing. Then we walked around and played. We had to leave the pond pretty quick because all our daughter wanted to do was crawl into the water. And when we wouldn't let her do that she was not too happy. It was quite funny actually. She walked right up to the water, and then my husband brought her to this little dock and she started backing up on her knees to crawl in.
In the evening we folded laundry and cleaned up the kitchen and living room, since it had been neglected on the weekend. And it's amazing how long it can take to clean up such a little area sometimes. The toys just seem to never end as well as the clothes that are laying around.
But, it's all good. I am very thankful for my 2 kids and that I can be their mom.
My husband was very good to me this weekend, trying to let me have more of a break. He even cleaned the car for me. I'm the one who cares about a clean car, and so he did that. He is also giving me a pedicure at a spa, which I am really looking forward to. He's a great husband!

Itchy Eyes
This is a silly thing to post about. But my eyes have been itching all day today. I have a cold and wonder if it's related. I've never had allergies, so it would seem wierd it were that. Does anybody have any ideas on how to relieve itchy eyes?
friends
In the last couple of days I have really enjoyed catching up with some good friends over the phone. I am really thankful for these 2 women in my life and they show me what good friends are. As a person who has traveled so much since graduating high school, friendships come and go and especially now as I am older good friendships seem harder to come by. I don't know why our world has become like this, but this is probably the hardest thing about moving around.
It was comforting to talk with my one friend today and realize that we experience many of the same things. I know that the difficulty in building friendships isn't me, but is how things are these days. It's so unfortunate and sad, especially that it remains just as difficult or maybe more difficult in Christians circles to build friendships. But, one thing, is that I am so thankful for the friends that I have, as far away as many of them may be. They are my friends and I love them a lot. So, thank you for your friendships. And thank you to the 2 women who I just talked to, I really appreciated our conversations.

Yard Sale Time!
I must admit that I like the thrill of Yard Sales-ing. Wading through other people's old junk for that treasure that will complete you, or at least hold your interest for 15 minutes. Today we hit a few in our neighbourhood. It was a nice walk with the kids. One sale had a big free bin with all sorts of cool stuff. We scored some toys for the kids, but what I was most excited about was some cassette tapes. I got "Nightflight to Venus" by Boney M, a Beatles Greatest hits 62-29, and a random Led Zeppelin. I was pretty pumped about the first two. Later, I had to run an errand in the car, so I popped in the Boney M, only to be greeted by some semi-melodic piano music. Upon further inspection I saw that the tape was actually Crystal Gayles' greatest hits or something. In fact, all three tapes were not as advertised. Arggh! I suppose the adage holds true... You Get What You Pay For.

Colds...not fun
The other day a friend was sick with a cold and I thought, that's too bad. But it didn't really effect me. Then I was thinking about it more and realized that it never seems to effect us when somebody else is sick with whatever it may be. But then when we get sick, we feel horrible and wish others would have sympathy for us, but really it doesn't bother them that much or at all. So, our house is slowly having the cold take over as usual. First my daughter, than me and my son and most likely my husband won't get sick. My point really is that I just found it interesting the way we think when it doesn't effect us. But really being sick is not fun and it seems we can never sympathize until we are in that situation. It's like giving birth. We go through it and know the pain of it, but when somebody else goes through it, we think "too bad" but then we can move on.
Anyways, just some rambling thoughts. I guess maybe we should care more when people get sick. Or maybe nobody else thinks this way.
