Our Home

This is our Christmas tree, in case you didn't guess. Christmas was good this year. It was neat telling our son what Christmas was about and then when I asked him, he would remember and say "baby Jesus". Then I'd ask him why Jesus came and he would say "because He loves me." So simple, but so true and so cool that he can learn that and remember it. He liked opening the presents this year much more than last year. And he liked helping us with all of our presents too. The kids even got to see a reindeer at the mall, that was pretty cool. Our daughter wasn't too into opening the presents, but she enjoyed finding paper to chew on. We had a good Christmas with family. My brother and his family came down, but it went way too fast. It felt like we were barely together. We had fun together.
I wanted to post some pictures of our new place so that people could picture where we were. So, here they are:

My mom and I made this whole crib set for my daughter, curtains and all. I love it. It didn't even take us that long and it is so amazing. We also made pillows for each room and curtains for our sons room which you will see below.

Here is our bedroom, our sons bedroom, kitchen, living room and playroom. Our playroom and our sons bedroom are downstairs. The playroom is nice to have.

My dad got this huge table that is in the left hand corner of the playroom picture. It's awesome. We can use it to set up trains, colour or play with play dough.
Well, that's all for now. Happy New Year!

Bad Salon Experience

I went to a salon yesterday to get my hair highlighted and coloured. I was very excited and had been looking forward to this for quite some time. Everything was going pretty good. After the highlights were done and she was rinsing my hair, she then put in this other stuff to neutralize the blond. It was so painful that it felt like my scalp was on fire. I told her, but she said it might hurt a bit. This was supposed to be a relaxing experience, not painful. When my hair was finally blow-dried I noticed that the brown she put in was quite dark. I had wanted her to match the colour to my roots, but this seemed too dark. The blond highlights were also very obvious and, in my opinion, made me look like a skunk. When I got home I was not happy. This morning I noticed that my head was sensitive from that neutralizing stuff. Anyways, I phoned the salon to make another long appointment because I was not happy. I went in tonight and had another girl fix my hair. I found out that my scalp had been damaged from that stuff and so that is why it hurt. Great! She was very nice and tried to fix my hair. It looks better, I don't look like a skunk anymore, but I am still not very impressed. Oh well, I am not going back. In the last 2 days I spent 5 1/2 hours in the salon and that is way too much. I think it'll be a long time before I get my hair highlighted again.

Weekend

This weekend we didn't do too much, but I thought I'd write in here anyway. We did some shopping, which is usually fun for me, and not for my husband. We also went to a Christmas musical with my family. That was really nice and I always enjoy going to those things. I did some baking this week. I made pinwheels, sugar cookies and fudge. Whoever said that sugar cookies were easy isn't telling the truth. Any cookie that you have to cut out is a lot of work, but well worth it because they taste and look so good. I got this yummy recipe from my friend. I wish I could have some of you over for coffee. If any of our friends are reading this from Vancouver, I just wanted to say that we sure miss you. I mean we miss everybody else too, but it's not as fresh. Our house is mostly organized now and Christmas decorations are all up. It's always such a pretty time.
We went for a short walk today. It sure is a lot of work just to go outside for a little bit. I miss the simplicity of dressing for Vancouver weather, but the snow has it's benefits too.
Well, that's all from us right now.
